Arts Therapies, Creativity and Mental Health Initiative (ACMI)

The Proposal

The Arts Therapies, Creativity and Mental Health Initiative (ACMI) has been developed by the Mental Health Foundation in collaboration with the Scottish Arts Therapies Forum (SATF) and the Centre for Arts and Humanities in Health and Medicine (CAHHM) based at the University of Durham, with the support of individuals in 4 local areas in Scotland.

ACMI has been awarded 3 years funding from the Scottish Executive for Development Phase 2 (2004-07). During this phase, pilot projects from four sites in Scotland will be developed, a literature review undertaken and research design commissioned, a part-time project manager being employed to support these activities as well as help fund raise for Implementation Phase 3 (2007-10).

This initiative has been developed from a Scottish base and will have a strong Scottish focus whilst also embracing a UK perspective.
