SATF

The Scottish Arts Therapies Forum (SATF) AGM was held in Edinburgh on 11 May 2002. At their AGM a keynote address was given by Jacqui Lundy, Project Manager for Allied Health Professions Strategy at the Scottish
Executive. Jacqui spoke of being impressed by the enthusiasm, energy and positive attitude of arts therapists in tackling the challenges of being small professions. She encouraged the attendees to ‘use our creativity, see
ourselves as ambassadors - a walking advertisement for our work, using our personal influence to find allies. We are a precious resource.’

For more information on SATF contact their secretary and Dramatherapy Scotland member Zoe Brook on 0141 424 1068 or email her at create@bazookaarts.co.uk.

Update

In the News ...

NHS Education for Scotland was launched in May 2002 as a special health board to
promote multidisciplinary training and
education. Drawing together the experience of existing education organisations which represent doctors, dentists, pharmacists and nursing professions, the new body will first
concentrate on bringing together
education for these professions. Health
Minister Malcolm Chisholm also stated how the organisation will later ‘extend their remit to cover all NHS employees from
administration staff to physiotherapists.’

how European
funding has been
used to set up an arts training and inform-
ation network project visit www.artslinc.org.
Artslinc is a Wales-Ireland initiative which
aims to research, provide and promote cross
border information and training in the use of
arts as a medium for empowerment with a
range of groups. Recent work has included
a collaboration with the Northern Ireland
organisation ‘Breaking the Silence’. The
groups together presented an interesting
paper on the Role of the Arts in Enabling
Those Experiencing Symptoms of PTSD at
the BADTh AGM and Conference in Derry
last month.
