BADTh Conference and AGM (Cont)

Scottish Arts Therapies Forum (SATF)

The DTS Chair has requested an update on how SATF intends to liase with the regional co-ordinators from each of the Scottish arts therapy support networks. Originally it was envisaged that important information for
consultation would be posted in its website. Check it out at www.satf.org.

DTS Invitation to English Dramatherapists

An informal invitation has gone out to two BADth members in England who manage the largest voluntary sector dramatherapy service in the UK service to consider a future visit to DTS. In the meantime, it is worth noting that we have in our current membership a
wealth of dramatherapy knowledge and experience that could benefit us all in our learning and practice. Any DTS member interested in contributing to a presentation on dramatherapy-related work in Scotland should contact the DTS Chair. This might take the form of a submission to our website, to the BADth newsletter or journal, to a half or full day event. Given what members have described as the isolation inherent in learning about and practising dramatherapy in Scotland, it should be an opportunity to raise the profile
of your work and share experience with others in related fields.
Genevieve Smyth

thought provoking event with some extremely good points being
made by all - in favour of and against the motion that being a
Dramatherapist on the Celtic Fringe can seriously damage your
wealth. For a full write up on this, see the next issue of The Prompt.
Other conference presenters included James King who offered a
workshop on Action Theatre and whose performance with his group
‘Bag-a-trix’ on Saturday night was great fun. Michael Barham also
offered a paper on practitioner based research - a topical paper - and
Martin Gill, hot of the press from the DTS debate, offered an
insightful talk with Louisa McKee on the use of Dramatherapy with
people experiencing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

From BADTh’s point of view, this is the most successful AGM yet, with a full quota being elected onto the Exec. Committee. So, a fresh start with new blood .... there may be life in the old dog yet!

Committee said thanks and
cheerio to David Powley as his
time on the Committee drew to
a close this year - David’s
contribution to the Exec. will be
much missed.
