Dramatherapy Scotland
Newsletter

Issue 1 Oct. ‘99

What’s New?

Welcome to Dramatherapy Scotland’s first newsletter! Hoorah! This newsletter has come about through chats with Drama-
therapy Scotland members who felt that there was a need for more information sharing to
reduce the feeling of isolation in our work community.

This newsletter is therefore
being formed for YOU and I
extend an invitation to all
readers to submit any thoughts or comments you may have to me. Initially this will be a biannual affair, so any comments for Issue 2, please have them to me by March 15 2000.

Cheers! Elinor Vettraino

Note of the next SATF event!!
To be held on 22 January 2000, the title of the event is ‘Community, Ritual and Play’. If you are interested please
contact Chris Achenbach at Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy in Scotland, Room 1, Community Buildings, 8 Academy Lane, Loanhead, Midlothian, EH20 9RP.
Tel: 0131 440 4822, Fax: 0131 448 2423.
Dramatherapy Scotland will be helping to fund this event for example by supporting a presenter or by subsidising cancellation costs.

In order to support our own members attending, we will also be offering a small travel subsidy (amount not yet decided) on a first come first served basis so if you are interested, please submit your receipts for travel to me.

Please note:
If you have any suggestions or (constructive) comments about the fantastic(!) logo for Dth Scot, please contact me as this is a work-in- progress.

Future of Service
At the moment, the future of the
Specialist Dramatherapy Service (SDS) offered by Genevieve Smyth is awaiting confirmation of core funding or closure. Genevieve is the only full-time theatre-based Dramatherapist that we know of and is based at Dundee’s Rep Theatre. Any comments, please drop Gen a note at SDS, Community Department, Dundee Rep Theatre, Tay Square, Dundee, DD1 1PB. Gen will be travelling to New York for the National Association for Drama Therapy Conference November 4th to 7th this year to give a paper on politics.
